marion storm is a dancer, choreographer, and teacher based in Montpellier France x Brooklyn US. storm’s dance projects have been presented by Exponential Festival, AUNTS, La Mama Moves! Festival, Bushwick Open Studios, and Brooklyn Art Book Festival, at Target Margin Theater, DanceRoulette, Center for Performance Research, and McCarren Pool in New York City, and most recently at the Centre Choregraphique National of Montpellier, CDCN La Place de la Danse, and 3 bis f – lieu d’arts contemporains in Occitanie, France.
storm’s writing has been published by The Operating System and recently Loam Magazine, with Flood Drafts: A Field Guide for Sensuous Repair.
storm has taught intergenerational movement/sensing/attention workshops for neurodivergent and non-neurodivergent children, teens, and elders since 2012. she also offers dance classes to dancers that mix art therapy, deep rest, and creative impulse from the comfort of your living room or on a studio floor.
storm was the recipient of a Foundation for Contemporary Arts ‘Emergency Grant’ for her collaboratively built performance and symposium resistance fantasies: strategies for moving toward– and against– in 2019, and was awarded an ‘Artists in the City’ scholarship by Fondation Hermes in 2019-2021 for completion of the Master Exerce (Montpellier) in Choreographic Research & Performance.
her dance & writing work on and with the planet is grounded in hydropoetics (think metaphor, think the stuff that water does), the flooding body (think composition method, think traces, think more-than-human ontology), & sensuous repair (think reciprocal relationship between you sensing and what you’re sensing, think planet care via better human care practices, think moving-with). her References are vital to her and keep her wonderment very much alive.
storm began to choreograph dance in 2010 at The New School on Lenapehoking land, in New York City.
